what if... things went wrong?

~Rapunzel~
"You'll never leave this castle."
Being closed in a tower all her life, having no other contact with humans... thats way too lonely. There aren't too many humans that can stay sane trapped in a 'cage' for that long.
She'd soon go insane, thinking if she attempted to escape from the tower, her 'mother' would really lock her up... and the people of the outside world might also cage her, because of her hair's powers. Especially since they can't cut her hair, they'd have to turn her into a slave and keep her caged, just like Gothel did.
From her depression, mentally unstable state and claustrophobia panic attack, she cuts her hair off, and slits her wrists with scissors, hoping just to die from the 'reality' she's been told of.
Of course, now that her hair is cut, Gothel, whom is most likely on a trip to run to errands, dies and turns to a pile of dust from old age.
Flynn Rider, or rather, Eugene will find Rapunzel dead, once he's climbed the tower with the crown.
Eventually, a palace guard will find Rapunzel's dead body and the crown, and assume it was the princess.
The whole palace goes into outrage and finds Eugene and hangs him.
The King and Queen are depressed once they see their possible-dead child after so many years..
the Queen eventually gets sick again and also dies...
The King soon follows..
so does the rest of their kingdom and its people.

~Hiccup~
"Stop being.. THIS... you're not my son"
Hiccup... at that moment where he caught Toothless... what if he actually DID cut out Toothless's heart?
He brought the heart back, but what if someone took it from him and claimed Hiccup was lying? Or would his people even believe him?
They would still turn their backs on him.
Realizing his mistake... he can never be one of them.
And the despair of having killed a dragon...
a dragon that reminded him of himself... he killed himself.
On the inside. Why not kill himself for good?
He rushes to the training arena, and unleashes all the dragons locked up, and they end up eating him.
Gobber would be the only one to believe him, but is too late to save Hiccup....
He blames himself.....living in depression the rest of his short life until he and the entire village ends up getting eaten by dragons too.

~Merida~
"You're a princess and I expect you to act like one!"
Her mother never turned back into a human after the sunrise.... now even her brothers are forever bears...
Confused, desperate, scared... she finds a nearby poisonous night shade berry bush and gobbles them down.
While she does this, her ex mother, now a bear acting on instinct, is frightened by the hunters around her and attacks Merida, killing her own ex-daugther. Merida's father, now no proof that the bear is of his family, and mistakes that the bear ATE his wife and sons, he kills his ex-wife. No other heir, the other sons of the other lords will have to marry and become the new lords.
The father Dunbroch is stripped of power, family, everything... left of nothing but scraps...
such ends the Dunbroch rule...

~Jack~
"They never believed in you."
Jack doesn't need much explaining of what situation he's in.
No one on planet earth believes in him. He's tried everything for 300 years. 300 years.
He had more freedom than Rapunzel, but he can't directly interact with someone and expect a response.
Even the 4 guardians, the ones who CAN see him, ignore him.
What if Pitch ignored him too?
Pitch would've ignored him anyway, had not the man in the moon chosen Jack as the new guardian.
The man in the moon, the guy who made Jack like this, the source of Jack's power and the one who could've explained everything to jack...
didn't speak a word.
Jack realizes... that he's eternally alone.
Even for a spirit of fun, spirits eventually die out.
Knowing he can't entirely die from normal causes since he's already half dead, he decided to just end it all by going to what was opposite of him…
so maybe he could..even if for a moment.. feel the warmth.. the warmth of being "alive."
alas, he is incinerated.
With no one to care, no one to know….
the death of the one who never existed.
The world still turned without him.

the world still turned without them.
it still plagued the hearts and minds of the people living on it.
